New Crime Mapping Platform
A message from: P.O. Nicola Walker DSN 6467/302, District 2 Neighborhood Liaison Officer:
In the spirit of our continuous efforts to enhance our transparency and offer residents with additional tools to learn about what’s going on in their neighborhoods, this month SLMPD announced the launch of our new Crime Mapping platform.
Accessible at SLMPD.org/mapping, our new platform offers an interactive space where residents, business leaders and visitors can explore crime data in neighborhoods across St. Louis.
Users can view information about incidents – mapped to the nearest hundred block, to ensure the privacy of victims and involved parties – and can use date, time, offense category and location filters to explore incidents in areas of interest to them.
Data is automatically updated every 24 hours and remains on the website for six months from the date of the incident. Incident information is derived from the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) and includes both felonies and misdemeanors.
If you haven’t already, I would also encourage you to explore our CompStat reports (accessible at SLMPD.org/stats), which are updated weekly on our website. These reports also break down crime data by geographic location and provide comparative analyses with prior years.
