To qualify for nomination, a nominee must have attended a meeting on or after July 15, 2015 or applied for membership on or before March 16, 2016. A nominee can only accept the nomination for one position. The nominee must accept the nomination by April 13, 2016.
You may nominate yourself and/or others. Please include contact information for the nominee(s) so that we can confirm their acceptance of nomination.
The election will be held at the General Meeting on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. Voting will be open to all members who have signed into and attended a meeting on or after July 15, 2015 or who have requested membership on or before March 24, 2016. Address verification may be required.
Nominations are open for the following positions: President (1 year term), Vice President (1 year term), Recording Secretary (1 year term), Corresponding Secretary (1 year term), Northwest Quadrant Director A Term (2 year term), Northeast Quadrant Director A Term (2 year term), Southwest Quadrant Director A Term (2 year term), Southeast Quadrant Director A Term (2 year term), Southeast Quadrant Director B Term (1 year term). Terms expire at the end of the April Annual Meeting. See below for a description of Officer duties and a map of the quadrants.
Nominees will be announced prior to the April 20, 2016 meeting via email, TGSNA.org, and the TGSNA Facebook page. Nominees will be allowed to make a one minute speech at the April 20, 2016 meeting. Voting will take place following the nominees’ speeches.
Directors: In an effort to achieve diversity among all demographic groups, the Geographic Area shall be divided into Geographic Quadrants for the election of Elected Directors.
The Northwest quadrant shall be bordered by South Kingshighway Boulevard on the West, Arsenal Street on the North, Roger Place on the East, and Fyler Avenue and Utah Street on the South.
The Northeast quadrant shall be bordered by Arsenal Street on the North, South Grand Avenue on the East, Roger Place on the West, and McDonald Avenue on the South.
The Southeast quadrant shall be bordered by McDonald Avenue on the North, Roger Place on the West, South Grand Avenue on the East, and Chippewa Street on the South.
The Southwest quadrant shall be bordered by Chippewa Street on the South, Roger Place on the East, South Kingshighway Boulevard on the West, and Fyler Avenue and Utah Street on the North. The middle of each street described in this Section Two shall serve as the exact boundary for the Geographic Quadrants.
Officers: The President shall (a) preside at meetings; (b) appoint standing and special committees and serve as an ex-officio member thereof; (c) decide all questions of order; (d) only cast a vote in the event of a tie; and (e) conduct all business of the Corporation to the best interests of its Members. The President may approve bills for payment, if $200.00 or less.
The Vice President shall act in the absence of the President and when assuming such duty shall have the same authority, rights, and responsibilities.
The Recording Secretary shall perform all duties customarily assigned to the office of secretary, which are not assigned to the Corresponding Secretary. The Recording Secretary shall be responsible for all minutes and records, and shall have charge of all papers, documents, and files…
The Corresponding Secretary shall be responsible for all general correspondence on behalf of the Corporation and such correspondence the President and Board may delegate. The Corresponding Secretary shall maintain a roster of the names, addresses, email addresses, preferred contact information, and date of Membership of the Members. The Corresponding Secretary shall provide all applicable meeting notices.
